The Aberdeen Energy Efficiency Programme is now open to provide grants supporting energy efficiency upgrades for eligible SMEs.
Aberdeen City Council, in partnership with Scarf, is continuing its support for local businesses with the newly named Aberdeen Energy Efficiency Programme – building on the success of the previous Energy Pilot Scheme.
Aims
- The scheme aims to help local businesses reduce their energy bills, lower their carbon footprint, and improve their overall sustainability, all while supporting their progress toward net zero goals.
Funding Information
- Grant size:
- Up to £10,000
- Covers:
- Up to 50% of total project cost
- Spend deadline:
- 31st March 2026.
What Can the Grant Be Used For?
- Funding can support any project that:
- Cuts your energy consumption
- Drives long-term bill savings
- Helps your business or organisation operate more sustainably
- Eligible projects under the Aberdeen Energy Efficiency Programme may include, but are not limited to:
- Renewable Energy Installations: Such as solar panels, biomass boilers, or heat pumps.
- Energy Efficient Equipment: Including new heating systems, LED lighting, and energy-efficient machinery.
- Building Improvements: Such as insulation, new doors, windows, or other measures that enhance energy efficiency.
- Other Carbon-Reducing Initiatives: Any other activities that can significantly reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.
Eligibility Criteria
- You must be:
- An SME, sole trader, partnership, limited company, or third sector organisation
- Based in the Aberdeen City Council area
- Trading for at least 6 months
- Paying non-domestic rates
- Operating from premises with at least 2 years left on your lease or ownership agreement
- This scheme excludes:
- Landlords, property managers/agents
- Registered social landlords
- Solicitors, accountants, doctors, dentists, consultants
- Businesses that already received the full £10,000 grant from the previous Energy Pilot Scheme
Assessment
- All complete applications received will be assessed by Scarf and verified against the eligibility criteria. Incomplete applications may not be reviewed.
- Successful applicants will be informed by an offer letter from Aberdeen City Council. All decisions will be made at the discretion of Scarf and Aberdeen City Council and are subject to the availability of funds.
- Grant agreements and grant payments to successful businesses will be issued by Aberdeen City Council.
