The Netherlands Film Fund is currently accepting applications to support Dutch minority co-productions in the fields of short animation and research & experiment, aiming to strengthen artistic quality and international collaboration in film production.
The scheme focuses on artistic minority co-productions with strong creative and technical input from professionals based in the Netherlands, short animated films with a maximum duration of 60 minutes, and research & experiment productions that are groundbreaking, investigative, experimental, or artistic in nature, including immersive or interactive media works, with an emphasis on international co-production, festival potential, and broad international audience reach.
This funding scheme is designed to support distinctive artistic film projects that are developed as Dutch minority co-productions, particularly in short animation and research & experiment categories. It encourages international collaboration that strengthens artistic vision, expands financial foundations, and enhances professional exchange between countries. The scheme also aims to increase the international visibility of Dutch film professionals and improve opportunities for international market access.
The scheme provides financial support of up to €50,000 for the realization phase of eligible projects. The scheme is intended for Dutch co-producers involved in minority film projects where artistic and substantive contributions are central. These projects are expected to demonstrate originality, strong creative direction, and suitability for international festival selection.
Eligible applicants are production companies that are legal entities and not sole proprietorships or general partnerships. These companies must be established in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, an EU member state, the EEA, or Switzerland, and must have been continuously active in producing and exploiting films or audiovisual productions for at least two years. The applicant must act as the Dutch minority co-producer in the project.
For short animation applications, the production company must have previously served as the main producer of at least one independent animation production that is not commissioned. For research & experiment applications, the company must have previously produced at least one independent non-commissioned audiovisual production in the Netherlands.
