Deadline Date: May 06, 2026
The Carbon Capture Technologies Program is inviting applications to support the development and demonstration of innovative carbon management technologies in Australia.
The program focuses on accelerating the development of emerging priority CO2 capture, utilisation, and removal technologies, supporting research, development, and demonstration to advance technological and commercial readiness of novel or emerging carbon capture, utilisation, and removal technologies in hard-to-abate industries such as cement, chemicals, and steel, demonstrating verifiable permanence of CO2 sequestered via a range of utilisation applications, and supporting capability development in novel or emerging carbon removal technologies.
Grants of up to $10 million are available to organisations developing technologies to capture, utilise, or remove CO2. Eligible applicants include Australian entities with an ABN that are registered for GST, including incorporated entities, incorporated trustees on behalf of trusts engaged in significant trading activities, Australian state or territory government agencies or bodies, and corporate Commonwealth entities. Projects cannot be submitted by individuals, partnerships, or organisations that do not comply with the Workplace Gender Equality Act (2012) or are listed on the National Redress Scheme’s website for institutions that have not joined or signified intent to join.
The program offers a unique opportunity to advance low-emissions or net-zero industries by supporting pilot and demonstration projects that transform innovative carbon capture technologies into commercially viable solutions. Applicants must demonstrate that their projects address residual emissions in priority hard-to-abate sectors and contribute to Australia’s broader climate and industrial goals.
