Deadline Date: July 15, 2026
The Innovate UK is inviting applications to support real-world demonstrations of innovative clean maritime technologies in operational maritime environments.
The initiative focuses on developing, testing and deploying innovative clean maritime technologies for use on vessels or maritime infrastructure, supporting real-world demonstrations in operational settings, advancing deployment trials, pre-deployment trials and innovative feasibility studies, transforming the United Kingdom into a global leader in the design and manufacturing of clean maritime technology, and accelerating the fuels and technologies required to decarbonise the maritime sector and achieve net zero.
The Deployment Trials strand aims to fund projects that demonstrate innovative clean maritime technologies in real-world operational conditions. Proposals must focus on technologies designed for on-vessel applications, maritime infrastructure use, or both, ensuring that the solutions are tested and validated in practical environments.
The competition is delivered by Innovate UK, which is part of UK Research and Innovation, and will invest up to £121 million through the Department for Transport. Funding will support projects under three strands, including deployment trials, pre-deployment trials, and innovative feasibility studies.
Projects funded under this programme must focus specifically on clean maritime technology and contribute to the goals of the UK SHORE programme, which aims to strengthen the UK’s leadership in the development and manufacturing of clean maritime technologies while accelerating the transition to low-carbon fuels and systems in the maritime sector.
Eligible projects must have total eligible costs between £3 million and £15 million. Any funded organisation must carry out its project work in the United Kingdom and must intend to exploit the results of the project from or within the UK. Projects must begin on the first day of a month and cannot start until the Grant Offer Letter has been approved by Innovate UK.
