The Livelihoods Training and Grant Programme is requesting applications to support individuals who are engaged in or seeking practical income-generating activities along the Kotu Stream area.
The programme focuses on gardening, waste collection, handicraft such as tie and dye, plantations including seedlings, nurseries and flowers, compressed stabilised earth blocks (CSEB), composting, and food vending.
The initiative is designed to strengthen practical skills and improve economic opportunities for participants working within the identified priority sectors. Through this programme, participants will receive livelihood skills training that equips them with the technical knowledge required to improve or start their economic activities. In addition, they will receive financial literacy training to help them manage income, understand financial planning, and strengthen the sustainability of their businesses.
Participants may also gain access to grant support, subject to applicable conditions, to help them develop or expand their livelihood activities. The programme further provides market linkage support so that participants can connect their products and services with potential markets and buyers, helping them improve income opportunities. All selected applicants will be awarded a grant (USD 1,000-8,000).
To be eligible for the programme, applicants must be Gambian nationals who reside in or operate an existing livelihood activity along the Kotu Stream area, or those who intend to establish a livelihood activity within the area. They must demonstrate commitment to completing the full training programme and operate within one of the eligible sectors such as waste collection, handicraft including tie and dye, plantations like seedlings, nurseries and flowers, CSEB, composting, or food vending.
