Deadline Date: April 15, 2026
The Innovate UK is requesting grant applications to support innovative projects in quantum technologies, fostering collaboration with German partners to drive commercialisation and technological advancement.
The competition focuses on collaborative research and development to commercialise quantum technologies, demonstrating co-innovation, high potential for commercialisation, addressing technological challenges, and developing plans for global market exploitation.
UK registered organisations can apply for a share of up to £3 million, subject to the receipt of a sufficient number of high-quality applications. Applications must be made through the Innovation Funding Service (IFS) for Innovate UK funding.
UK businesses must collaborate with at least one Germany-based partner, which must be a separate legal entity not linked to the UK participants. German partners will not receive funding from Innovate UK, but will apply to the Federal Ministry of Technology, Research and Space (BMFTR) for the German portion of the project. The UK partners’ grant funding request must be between £750,000 and £1 million, allowing projects to scale according to their scope and impact.
Projects must ensure that the majority of work is undertaken in the UK and Germany, with UK partners carrying out their project work in the UK and intending to exploit results there. Projects should start on the first day of the month and cannot begin until the Grant Offer Letter is approved by Innovate UK. Delays in project setup may require adjustments to the start date.
The consortium must include at least one German-registered business as project co-lead, ensuring genuine international collaboration. Linked companies are considered a single entity under the parent company. Each project must demonstrate a balanced technological contribution from participants in both countries, with work equally significant to all involved.
