The Pow Wow Pitch offers Indigenous entrepreneurs across Turtle Island an opportunity to showcase their ideas, gain visibility and access funding and support.
The initiative focuses on empowering powwow vendors, artists, creators, makers, and business innovators from all industries, encouraging participation from individuals at any stage of their entrepreneurial journey while fostering community connection, mentorship access, business growth, and cultural uplift through storytelling and innovation.
The competition offers significant funding opportunities, with total cash prizes amounting to $100,000 CAD. Virtual pitch winners can receive up to $25,000 for the grand prize, followed by $10,000 for second place, $5,000 for third place, and additional prizes including Alumni Choice and People’s Choice awards. Industry semi-finalists also receive $1,000 each. In-person participants compete for prizes of $5,000, $2,500, and $1,000, along with special awards such as the Youth Prize and Fan Favourite, each valued at $500.
Beyond funding, participants gain access to multiple growth opportunities. These include eligibility for the Pow Wow Pitch Box Program, where up to 250 units of selected products are purchased and distributed, as well as mentorship from industry experts, participation in accelerator bootcamps, and access to free tools, templates, and advisory support. Participants also receive a free .CA domain to establish their online presence and become part of a long-term community of Indigenous entrepreneurs and alumni.
Pow Wow Pitch invites Indigenous individuals to present their ideas through a 1-minute pitch, either online or in person, creating a platform to share their vision and connect with a supportive network. Participants benefit from exposure, opportunities to grow their audience, and access to valuable business resources that help accelerate their entrepreneurial journey.
