PETRONAS FutureTech is an accelerator program tailored for early to growth startups, designed to bring innovative solutions into PETRONAS’ innovation pipeline where they can be defined, piloted, and activated.
The program is committed to driving innovation, sustainability, and nation-building by identifying and nurturing emerging tech talent to tackle real-world industry challenges while fostering economic growth.
Through strategic collaboration with corporate partners across Asia Pacific, FutureTech equips startups with the tools and opportunities to scale, strengthening Malaysia’s tech-driven ecosystem and contributing to the region’s socio-economic transformation.
FutureTech has made progressive strides in driving innovation, fostering entrepreneurship, and creating sustainable impact across the programme. Beyond just supporting the startups in scaling their innovations, the programme also creates a positive socio-economic impact to the startup community through education and skill investment as well as fostering tech-driven innovations that support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Themes
- Future of Energy
- Solutions that help tackle critical challenges in energy efficiency and emission reduction. This includes real-time energy monitoring, optimize energy usage, and provide actionable insights to achieve sustainability targets.
- Future of Industry & Work
- Solutions that enhance operational efficiency and workforce capabilities. This includes predictive maintenance systems, inventory management platforms, HSE tools, and next-generation training technologies to reduce costs, improve safety compliance, and address skill gaps in industrial operations.
- Future of Chemicals & Materials
- Solutions that enable the development of sustainable and/or bio-based specialty chemicals and materials. Specifically, they are looking for startups whom they can partner with in their R&D efforts
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to Startup in Malaysia and Globally
- Startups from any region globally are eligible, provided their solutions are applicable to the Asia Pacific market.
- Relevance to FutureTech Themes
- Solutions must align with at least one of the FutureTech themes.
- Feasibility for Test-bedding and Pilot
- Startups are ready to engage in proof-of-concept or pilot implementations with PETRONAS or corporate partners.
- Traction
- Open to early to growth-stage startups with solutions that are already deployed in the market or have a clear roadmap for commercialization.
- Team Commitment
- At least one founder must be fully committed to participating in the 12 week hybrid program.
- Registered Status
- Startups must be incorporated as Sdn Bhd./Ptd Ltd./PLC or equivalent in their respective countries and have been operational for at least 1 year.
