Deadline: Ongoing
Join the 100+ Accelerator Program for Water Stewardship to help them build a more water-secure world with solutions that optimize water use across their operations or enhance water quality and availability in high-stress communities.
The 100+ Accelerator was launched by AB InBev to help the company reach its ambitious sustainability goals faster by finding startups that could deliver breakthrough advancements across key sustainability pillars.
Subchallenges
- Monitoring and Analysis
- Water Savings and Treatment in Manufacturing and Supply Chain
- Watershed Conservation and Stewardship
Top Priorities
- Monitoring and Analysis:
- Affordable, easy-to-implement analytical monitoring for emerging contaminants at trace concentrations.
- Data collection on current eutrophication of freshwater and marine environments attributable to operations, with future impact projections.
- Identification of high-risk eutrophication areas, and development of low-cost, scalable technologies and best practices for prevention and mitigation.
- Water Savings and Treatment in Manufacturing and Supply Chain:
- Water reuse/recycling solutions, including distribution of treated effluent for shared local benefit (urban and rural settings).
- Innovative, cost-effective effluent treatment approaches for zero discharge and repurposing treated effluent for new industrial uses.
- Efficient and automated Clean-Out-of-Place (COP) cleaning and sanitization systems.
- End-to-end, energy-efficient, low-cost wastewater treatment solutions.
- Monitoring systems (operational and analytical) for water treatment plants (WTP) and wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) that enable off-site management.
- Watershed Conservation and Stewardship:
- Solutions for retaining water in watershed soil, including reforestation and soil conservation practices that are cost-effective and scalable.
- Nature-based solutions to improve ecosystem restoration at substantial scale.
- Scalable, cost-effective approaches to reforestation and soil conservation that contribute to long-term watershed health.
Areas of Interest
- Monitoring and Analysis:
- Drought/flood forecasting programs by region: this way they can identify risks in their operations and in their suppliers’ operations
- Solutions to connect their suppliers in water stewardship or water or to understand risk in the supply chain (supply security)
- Water Savings and Treatment in Manufacturing and Supply Chain:
- New solutions that improve energy efficiency or reduce rejection rates in treated water systems, including (but not limited to) reverse osmosis technologies.
- Reduced water consumption in cooling towers.
- Analytics and production optimization for Clean-In-Place (CIP) to increase efficiency, reduce cycle times, minimize line flushing, and explore alternatives to chemical cleaning.
- Independent treatment of sanitary discharges within existing production facilities, with real-time confirmation of treatment efficacy.
- Water leakage detection solutions for breweries.
- Solutions to eliminate PsA biofilms and detected PsA in water from boreholes, that are simple to operate in the field and effective.
- Watershed Conservation and Stewardship:
- Solutions for designing and implementing regenerative hydrology to slow down water flows at the plot and farm level and maximize water capture in the soil.
- Landscape practices, design, and implementation tailored to local challenges (examples of practices: swales, keyline design, terraces, etc.)
Benefits
- The 100+ Accelerator will provide support, guidance and access to potential funding through:
- Pilot customer opportunities with the six corporate partners:
- AB InBev, The Coca-Cola Company, Colgate-Palmolive, Danone, Mondelez International, and Unilever (including the potential to scale company-wide)
- Active mentorship, training, and programming in product development, go-to-market, operations, sales, and more
- Top mentor network of scientists, academics, domain experts, venture capitalists, corporate sustainability leaders, etc.
- Potential funding from Partner Companies and their networks
- Pilot customer opportunities with the six corporate partners:
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to all. Challenges were developed with input from subject matter experts from their partner companies around the world to make sure they are focused on local issues that need to be addressed. They are seeking startups from around the world to answer the challenges and are eager to identify technologies and best practices that can be shared across their businesses and beyond.
