SIA Incubation Program to discover Social Entrepreneurship (Romania)

Deadline: 31 May 2024

Social Impact Award is pleased to announce Social entrepreneurship events and workshops that will give you all the tools you need to learn about the field and start your own social business.

Their events and workshops serve as open spaces to connect with like-minded people, discover how to create a social business or build an impactful career, and generate a project idea. They also provide feedback to those already building a social business and help them prepare their app for their incubation. All for free.

Their program helps young people discover the field of social entrepreneurship and take the first steps towards building a social enterprise. Since 2009, it has encouraged young social entrepreneurs in over 25 countries.

Benefits

  • Incubation offers participants the following benefits:
    • Individualized support: Their panel of experts and mentors provide you with personalized guidance in finalizing and prototyping your business and impact models every step of the way.
    • Meaningful connections: You are part of a group of like-minded young people with whom you can build lasting relationships and exchange ideas.
    • Global exposure: You can gain visibility with their community vote, an annual campaign where thousands of people vote for their favorite projects.
    • Key Resources: The most promising businesses take home one of their prizes, which include funding, recognition and a ticket to their annual SIA Summit. You’ll also have access to additional perks that could include a co-working space, unique opportunities from partners, and more.

Eligibility criteria

  • By maintaining a consistent eligibility criteria, they are able to fulfill their mission of helping young people take their first steps into the world of social entrepreneurship. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
    • To ensure they maintain a focus on young people, all members of the core applicant pool must, by law, be aged between 14 and 30.
    • They welcome both ideas that have not yet been implemented and ideas that are in the early stages of implementation. However, early implementation ideas can only be submitted if the project was founded after January 1 last year.
    • Applicants’ projects must not have received significant official start-up funding by the time of application. This is defined as formal grants from external sources exceeding a value of €6,000 (eg angel investments, grants, prize money, etc.).
    • The applicant must not have participated in the SIA incubation with the same idea with which they applied and must not have won the Social Impact Award in previous years.
