The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in Nigeria has launched the Comsat Accelerator, an initiative hosted by the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat) to empower technology startups and entrepreneurs within the country.
This accelerator is designed to identify and support innovative ventures with a focus on space, satellite applications, and digital communication technologies. Participants will have the opportunity to develop solutions that harness satellite infrastructure and connectivity to address challenges across sectors such as agriculture, health, disaster management, education and finance.
Startups accepted into the program will receive mentorship, access to satellite and communication technology infrastructure, technical support, and potential collaboration opportunities with government agencies and industry partners. The accelerator emphasizes practical deployment of technology, providing a platform for entrepreneurs to test, pilot and scale their solutions within the Nigerian context. By leveraging NigComSat’s satellite assets and ecosystem, the program aims to bridge digital divides and foster technology-driven growth across the country.
To be eligible, applicants must be Nigerian-registered technology ventures or entrepreneurs with a clear digital innovation or satellite-enabled business concept. The program seeks teams that are ready to refine their technology, validate market demand, and prepare for investment or commercialization. While specific cohort details may vary, successful applicants need to demonstrate a vision for impact at scale and a willingness to engage with the accelerator’s technical, business and strategic support environment.
This initiative offers a timely opportunity for Nigerian tech entrepreneurs looking to work at the intersection of satellite communications and digital transformation. With growing demand for connectivity-driven solutions, participants will gain a critical entry point into an ecosystem backed by national infrastructure, investment potential and meaningful support to bring their ideas to life and scale.
