Applications are now open for Phase One, an entrepreneurial start-up programme designed to support innovators in turning their ideas into sustainable businesses.
Developed by York Science Park in collaboration with regional partners, Phase One offers a practical support programme that includes expert advice, workshops and one-to-one mentoring.
Phase One members gain personal and direct access to a range of specially selected partner organisations that share their expertise, knowledge and skills to help accelerate their growth. Members also benefit from a prestigious York Science Park workspace that is based in The Catalyst at The University of York.
Eligibility Requirements
- To qualify, businesses must:
- Be a pre-start or an existing business under 12 months old.
- Have fewer than 3 employees at the time of application.
- Operate in an innovative field within the digital, creative, technology, or science sectors.
Programme Participation Requirements
- Participants must:
- Attend an induction day.
- Pay a £20 deposit per item issued (e.g., keys, fobs, coffee tokens).
- Participate in in-person workshops and networking events over the 12-month programme.
- Attend quarterly 1:1 catch-up meetings.
- Present a pitch at the application stage and at pitch events when required.
Application Process
- After each application deadline, the following steps occur:
- Panel Interview: If your application form is successful, they will invite you to a panel interview. This includes a 10-minute pitch-style presentation followed by 10 minutes of questions.
- Final Decision: Their evaluation panel will determine whether your are accepted into the Phase One programme.
- Confirmation and Onboarding: If accepted, you will receive a confirmation email with an agreement and onboarding details. Please note that if you cannot attend the induction day, you will need to wait for the next cohort’s induction.
