Deadline Date: November 27, 2025
The Science and Technology Facilities Council is proud to launch the NHS Fit for the Future R&D Missions Accelerator Programme which aims to support the development, clinical validation, and adoption of innovations that improve dementia diagnosis and prognosis.
Through targeted funding, technical expertise, and strategic partnerships, the accelerator will enable the development of clinically aligned, commercially viable and affordable innovations that will transform how care is delivered and contribute to UK economic growth. Participants choose the support stream that best matches their stage of development, whether they are exploring a concept, building a product, or ready to trial in clinical settings.
The programme helps innovators overcome barriers to market entry, supports progression across TRLs, and ensures every solution is designed with end-user adoption in mind. Applicants should ensure that proposed solutions are scalable and affordable for the NHS, and should be coupled to community-based diagnosis, monitoring and treatment approaches for preventative care. The programme offers up to £45,000 in funding and support for up to three months, enabling businesses to collaborate with partners and fast-track the development of technologies, products, processes, or services toward commercial application. This collaborative approach ensures that innovations are rigorously tested, refined, and prepared for real-world impact in healthcare environments.
The Collaborative R&D Stream has been designed to help businesses de-risk new technologies, or adapt and scale existing technology or capability, through proof-of-concept projects. The initiative provides targeted support to accelerate the development of innovations that address healthcare challenges and meet NHS needs.
