The Investec Beyond Business is an award-winning social enterprise incubation programme offering funding, training, mentoring, and support for emerging social enterprises in East London.
The programme focuses on business planning, sales and marketing, financial control, becoming an employer, IT for start-ups, and pro bono legal help, all designed to help social entrepreneurs create sustainable businesses with meaningful community impact.
Investec Beyond Business is open to entrepreneurs whose business ideas have a clear social purpose and serve communities in Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Newham, Waltham Forest, Islington, Barking, and Dagenham. Successful applicants pitch their ideas to a ‘Dragon’s Den’-style panel and can receive up to £24,000 in funding, along with membership in the programme. Participants gain strategic guidance, practical support, training, mentoring, and access to a network of alumni to ensure their venture thrives. Since 2011, the programme has helped establish 72 new social enterprises, create over 430 jobs, and generate a combined turnover of nearly £10 million, providing local entrepreneurs the opportunity to build businesses with positive social outcomes.
