The focus areas of the program include climate and sustainability-related startups, supporting scalable business models that can generate significant economic impact, fostering growth readiness through mentorship in sales, marketing, strategy, and fundraising, and encouraging participation from founders who reflect diverse communities impacted by climate change. The accelerator emphasizes connecting startups with corporate partners, investors, and local cleantech networks to maximize environmental and business impact.
The Cox Cleantech Accelerator selects five startups per cohort for focused support, providing $100,000 in investment either directly into their current capital round or via a convertible bridge note for the next round. Participants also gain access to mentorship, coaching, and the global gener8tor network of over 100 serial entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts. Startups receive guidance in key business areas such as marketing, talent management, legal, and strategy, along with connections to enterprise pilots in Atlanta to refine operations.
The program leverages the legacy and expertise of Cox Enterprises and Cox Cleantech, which have invested over $2 billion in sustainable technologies and initiatives, and operate the Cox Conserves sustainability program, which has funded over 500 environmental and conservation projects. The accelerator also partners with the Georgia Cleantech Innovation Hub to integrate startups into the local cleantech ecosystem.
Applications are open to startups headquartered anywhere in the world, with preference for ventures that are growth-ready, have scalable business models, and are led by passionate founders, including those from underrepresented communities. The program seeks startups capable of delivering measurable impact on climate and sustainability while growing into high-value enterprises.
