The Phoo Pwint Sa Incubation Programme is a year-long initiative designed to support Myanmar’s cultural and creative sector by providing training, mentorship, and seed funding opportunities to help young entrepreneurs transform their passion into sustainable businesses.
The priority areas for applications include fashion, esports, video game development, and Webtoon creation, encompassing activities such as creating clothing brands, organizing gaming tournaments, developing games and content, and producing digital animation or comic series. Selected participants will benefit from workshops and masterclasses covering creative economy basics, ideation with design thinking, business model development, startup financial management, organizational leadership, branding and marketing, law and copyright, and professional pitching techniques. One-on-one mentoring totaling 38 hours will be provided by experts in branding, communication, legal and intellectual property, business development, finance, and human resource management. Participants will also gain creative and technical skill development through 150 hours of hands-on training tailored to their individual projects. At the conclusion of the programme, all 12 finalists will compete in a pitch competition, with the top 6 receiving a total of $50,000 in equity-free seed funding.
To be eligible, applicants must be Myanmar citizens based in Yangon, with intermediate English proficiency, and have projects in the idea or prototype stage that fit into one of the four specified areas. Participants must be available for at least 20 hours per week over 9 months to actively engage in workshops, mentoring, networking events, and programme activities. Applications can be submitted individually or as teams, and women-led businesses are especially encouraged to apply.
Selection will be based on the innovation of the project, the expertise of team members, and the potential for business expansion. Out of the applicants, 25-30 individuals or teams will be pre-selected, and 12 finalists will be invited to participate in the programme. Through this initiative, the programme aims to foster self-reliance, creativity, and sustainable success for Myanmar’s emerging entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative sectors.
