The AIM-AHEAD All of Us Training Program invites applications for its third cohort, offering an 8-month traineeship in advanced data analysis using the All of Us Database, with the goal of training individuals from diverse fields in AI/ML for health research impact.
The objectives of the AIM-AHEAD All of Us Training Program are as follows: Objective 1: The trainee will apply R, Python, and/or Jupyter Notebook/R Studio to analyze All of Us data. Objective 2: The trainee will formulate hypotheses testable by applying AI/ML and advanced data analyses to All of Us data. Objective 3: The trainee will present their research project at the 2026 AIM-AHEAD Annual Meeting. Applications must also align with one or more of the AIM-AHEAD North Stars: North Star 1: Develop a representative AI/ML workforce with broad participation. North Star 2: Increase knowledge, awareness and national-scale community engagement and empowerment in AI/ML. North Star 3: Use AI/ML to improve behavioral health, cardiometabolic health and cancer outcomes for all. North Star 4: Build community capacity and infrastructure in AI/ML to address community-centric health challenges.
Applications close on September 26, 2025, at 11:59 pm Eastern Time. Successful candidates will be notified by November 10, 2025, and training will commence on November 17, 2025, running through July 31, 2026. The program provides a stipend of $8,000, disbursed in installments, alongside a $2,000 allowance to attend the 2026 AIM-AHEAD Annual Meeting. Each trainee will work with an AIM-AHEAD mentor for personalized support and development.
The program will engage 25 graduate students, postdocs, early-career faculty, healthcare professionals, and non-academic professionals. Training will cover advanced technical skills in data analysis using the Researcher Workbench, AI/ML model development, validation methods, and cloud-based analysis using R and Python. Cohort 3 introduces a new Genomics Track, available to up to five selected trainees, focused on genomic data science applications using ML.
Eligibility is limited to U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents, or Non-Citizen Nationals, with applicants required to hold at least a bachelor’s degree in fields such as life sciences, data science, engineering, or public health. Foreign institutions and individuals on temporary visas are not eligible. Strong prior experience with data management, statistics, or coding in R/Python is desirable, and additional proficiency in genomics is required for Genomics Track candidates.
Applicants must submit a complete application, including a NIH biosketch or CV, academic transcripts, a statement of rationale, and at least two letters of support. Institutions of applicants must maintain an active Data Use and Registration Agreement (DURA) with All of Us before final admission.
