Deadline: October 15, 2025
BHP Xplor is a six-month accelerator program for early-stage mineral exploration companies offering US$500,000 in equity-free funding along with technical, commercial, and operational support to fast-track promising concepts into viable projects that can contribute to the minerals needed for the energy transition.
Applications for BHP Xplor 2025 are now open, and BHP is conducting a global search to find the next big exploration opportunity. The program welcomes first-time entrepreneurs fresh from research or academia with strong exploration ideas, established teams and companies with breakthrough early-stage concepts yet to be de-risked, as well as mature teams with developed concepts and preliminary activities. Candidates may or may not have land access or prior investment.
Successful applicants will receive US$500,000 in equity-free grants to support their exploration work during the program. In addition to funding, participants will gain access to technical and commercial coaching, BHP’s global expert network, and service providers. The program also offers a tailored curriculum to enhance best practices in exploration and business development, as well as an opportunity to join a global community of explorers.
The 2025 program follows a structured timeline, beginning with interviews in Toronto in November–December 2025. A bootcamp will launch the program in January 2026, followed by toolkit camp in March, scale camp in June, and concluding with a showcase in September 2026 where participants may pitch for follow-on funding or partnerships with BHP.
As part of the program’s community-building initiatives, applicants are encouraged to attend BHP Xplor webinars and global industry conferences to interact with the team before applying. These sessions provide valuable insights into what makes a strong proposal and allow direct engagement with program leaders.
