The Monterrey Institute of Technology, through the Eugenio Garza Lagüera Entrepreneurship Institute, in collaboration with the German Technical Cooperation (GIZ), is calling for climate entrepreneurships from Latin America that have innovative solutions with the potential to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.
Through the Acceleration program, they develop capacities and provide resources to startups with high business potential and climate impact, and that show early evidence of market traction. Upon completion of the program, participating startups are ready to raise their first rounds of investment.
Eligible Impact Areas
- Projects must have a product or service with the potential for mitigation and positive climate impact. The solution must align with at least one of the eligible impact areas:
- Energy access and generation;
- Low emission transportation;
- Buildings, cities, Industries and household appliances;
- Forest and land-use resources.
Program Benefits
- Upon selection, startups will have access to a 4-month program, which includes:
- Grant without equity dilution up to €100,000
- Mentors and thematic experts
- Specialized content and workshops
- Linkage and strategic alliances
- Climate impact measurement
Eligibility Criteria
- Be legally incorporated in one of the following countries: Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, or the Dominican Republic.
- Be a startup: Fewer than 50 employees. Fewer than $3 million in assets. Fewer than $3 million in annual sales. A market-ready solution.
- Have a full-time team of at least two people. Team members must demonstrate relevant experience in the industry and/or the technology to be developed.
- Have a product, service, or solution for emissions mitigation and positive climate impact at a TRL 5 or higher technology maturity stage.
- Demonstrate growth and scalability potential. Additionally, there must be evidence of users, customers, or sales.
