Deadline: September 26, 2025
The AIM-AHEAD Bridge2AI for Clinical Care Training Program invites applications for its second cohort, offering advanced training in artificial intelligence and machine learning applications for clinical care and big data analysis.
Objective 1: The trainee will demonstrate advanced expertise in applying AI/ML principles to clinical care. Objective 2: The trainee will develop and present use cases suitable to apply in Bridge2AI Data Topics. Objective 3: The trainee will participate directly in joint research and development projects on the Bridge2AI AI/ML for Clinical Care Collaborative Cloud platform, applying the expertise and insights gained from the program and interfacing with the BRIDGE Center expertise for responsible and trustworthy AI/ML. Objective 4: The trainee will prepare a compelling poster presentation for the AIM-AHEAD and Bridge2AI Annual Meetings, submit an abstract for a health informatics conference, and/or develop a manuscript for a peer-reviewed journal. North Star 1: Develop a representative AI/ML workforce with broad participation. North Star 2: Increase knowledge, awareness and national-scale community engagement and empowerment in AI/ML. North Star 3: Use AI/ML to improve behavioral health, cardiometabolic health and cancer outcomes for all. North Star 4: Build community capacity and infrastructure in AI/ML to address community-centric health challenges.
The program is an intensive 8-month training designed for up to 30 professionals, equipping them with advanced skills in statistical, computational, and machine learning tools applied to healthcare. Participants will engage with the Bridge2AI AI/ML for Clinical Care Network, access multi-modal datasets including high-resolution clinical and socio-economic health data, and conduct innovative research addressing health disparities.
Applications are open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or non-citizen nationals with at least a bachelor’s degree in fields such as physical sciences, life sciences, statistics, data science, engineering, health sciences, or public health. Candidates must demonstrate practical experience in programming with R or Python, alongside a basic understanding of statistics.
Trainees will receive a stipend of $8,000, as well as $2,000 allowances each to attend the 2026 AIM-AHEAD Annual Meeting and the Bridge2AI Annual Conference. Participants will also gain mentorship from experienced AIM-AHEAD members, access to virtual office hours, and structured training resources including machine learning workshops, generative AI sessions, and guided implementation of clinical research use cases.
The program emphasizes collaborative learning, requiring trainees to attend workshops, develop applied projects, present research posters, and generate abstracts or manuscripts for conferences and journals. Awardees will also provide early feedback on the functionality and integration of the Bridge2AI Collaborative Cloud platform.
Applications must be submitted through the AIM-AHEAD Connect and InfoReady platforms no later than September 26, 2025, 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Notification of award decisions will be issued on November 10, 2025, with the program beginning November 17, 2025.
