The XR2Industry Software Open Call is looking for up to two developers (SMEs & MidCaps) creating interoperability and standardization solutions for XR mass adoption.
This initiative is designed to empower innovative XR solutions while ensuring scalability and interoperability for industry-wide adoption.
XR2Industry is an EU-funded project that will create a European XR reference platform by developing the first European XR headset.
The project´s priorities are data privacy, empowerment, industrial relevance, human-centric, and openness.

- Tracking Environment
- Development of a Tracking System for Virtual Reality (VR) Headset. Requirements:
- Real-time tracking and mapping system.
- Flexibility and integration with virtual reality devices.

- Development of Avatar Customization Solutions in Virtual Reality. Requirements:
- Efficient facial tracking.

- Industrial Digital Twins
- Development of the Industrial Digital Twin. Requirements:
- Develop and identify combined open standards for digital twins.
- Digital twins should be capable of real-time updates from data sources.

- Eye Tracking
- Development of an Eye-tracking Service for Android-based Standalone Headsets. Requirements:
- Tracking accuracy and frequency.

Funding Information
- The XR2Industry 2nd Open Call for software integration will select up to 2 Developers of XR components (MidCaps or SMEs) designing interoperability and standardisation solutions for XR mass adoption. Applicants have to focus on addressing one of the challenges proposed. Each selected SME or Mid-cap will receive a maximum of 275.000€ (fixed lump sum), during the 12-month Support Programme which includes the following stages:
- Stage 1 Individual Mentoring Plan-IMP (2 months): up to 55.000€,
- Stage 2 Development (5 months): up to 110.000€,
- Stage 3 Integration (5 months): up to 110.000€.
Eligible Activities
- XR2Industry is looking for projects that develop and integrate interoperable innovative software based on emerging technologies (such as 5G/6G, IoT, data, articial intelligence, edge and cloud computing, and microelectronics), leading to the standardization solutions for XR mass adoption. Projects are expected to facilitate interoperability of XR solutions, merging hardware and software towards a smooth user experience. Standardisation actions are expected to benet the whole XR community.
Eligibility Criteria
- To participate in the XR2Industry programme the applicants have to meet all the criteria, positively pass their evaluation process and finally sign the Sub-Grant Agreement with the XR2Industry Consortium. The projects that do not comply with the criteria will be excluded. The eligibility criteria will be checked during the whole evaluation process.
- They are looking for a single SME or MidCap registered as a legal entity before the start date of the XR2Industry 2nd Open Call for software integration (before December 17, 2024) in the following countries:
- EU Member States and its Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT), or
- Horizon Europe Associated Countries.

Ineligibility Criteria
- The applicants who are subject to EU restrictive measures under Article 29 of the Treaty on the European Union (TEU) and Article 215 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU (TFEU) are not eligible to participate in this open call.
