Deadline Date: April 3, 2026
Whitecourt Launch is a funding opportunity designed to support home-based businesses moving to storefront locations, entrepreneurs starting new small businesses, and existing businesses expanding with unique products or services that address community needs.
The focus areas of the program include providing up to $10,000 in financial support for eligible businesses, supporting business proposals that demonstrate feasibility and sustainability, and encouraging ventures that bring greater benefit to the Whitecourt community.
Whitecourt Launch will provide up to $10,000 in financial support to those operating home-based businesses wishing to move to a storefront; entrepreneurs opening a new small business; and/or, existing businesses wanting to expand products/services that are unique and fill identified gaps in our community. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to present a “business pitch” in person to the Economic Development Committee.
Candidates who have received previous grant funding from the Town of Whitecourt under any business expansion, new business development, and/or start-up programs are ineligible. Candidates must complete the application form – Whitecourt Launch Application Form Schedule “A” and work with a member of the Economic Development Team throughout the application process. Applicants must submit a business proposal/project plan and a detailed budget, which will be reviewed and assessed for feasibility and sustainability, and candidates must agree to share the proposal in confidence with the Economic Development Team for review.
If the project is determined to be achievable and has a greater benefit to the community, the candidate will be invited to provide a presentation to the Economic Development panel. If the pitch is successful, candidates will be required to sign an agreement with the Town of Whitecourt outlining rights and responsibilities, including maintaining accurate records, providing business updates, agreeing to site visits, and understanding conditions for reclamation of grant funds if the business does not follow through with the proposed plans.
