The Wagga Wagga City Council invites community organisations, individuals, and local businesses to apply for funding under its Annual Grants Program to support projects, events, and initiatives that benefit the local community in Australia.
The grant categories include Community Programs & Projects, Recreational & Community Facilities, Neighbourhood & Rural Villages, Rural Halls, Arts, Culture & Creative Industries, Local Heritage, Events, Environment, Youth Programs & Projects, and Small Business.
Each financial year, the Council allocates funding to support local not-for-profit cultural, recreational, and community groups, and in some categories extends eligibility to individuals and local businesses. The program is designed to strengthen community connections and enhance the wellbeing of residents by supporting a diverse range of initiatives that respond to local needs and aspirations.
Funding amounts vary across the ten categories. Arts, Culture & Creative Industries has a total allocation of $25,000 with grants ranging from $500 to $7,500. Community Programs & Projects is allocated $30,000 with grants between $1,000 and $7,500. Neighbourhood & Rural Villages has $22,000 available with grants ranging from $1,000 to $7,500. Recreational & Community Facilities is allocated $30,000 with grants from $1,000 to $10,000. Youth Programs & Projects has a total of $15,000 with grants ranging from $500 to $7,500.
Not-for-profit organisations, including unincorporated community groups, are eligible to apply. Groups that are not incorporated may submit an application through an auspice organisation that meets eligibility requirements and agrees to support the project, with the auspice receiving and administering the grant funds on their behalf. Individuals may also apply in certain categories but must comply with the program’s auspicing requirements.
To be eligible, projects must primarily benefit residents and not-for-profit organisations or groups within the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area, unless otherwise stated. State or Federal government organisations are required to partner with a not-for-profit or charity and provide a letter of support confirming the arrangement. Businesses applying to any category other than Small Business must also partner with a not-for-profit or charity and submit a supporting letter confirming the partnership.
Through this Annual Grants Program, the Council aims to encourage inclusive participation and deliver meaningful outcomes that contribute to a vibrant and resilient local community.
