Deadline: October 15, 2025
The 2025 Grant Programme is open for applications to support projects that align with the Trust’s charitable purposes and foster the long-term growth of New Zealand’s tourism industry.
The grant’s focus areas are Predator Free 2050 & Biodiversity Stewardship, Ecological Impact, Community Engagement, Sustainability & Innovation, Tourism Sustainability Commitment (TSC), Educational Impact, Business Capability Building, Climate Change Adaptation, and Partnerships Encouraged. The core aims include enhancing the knowledge of individuals working in New Zealand’s tourism industry, educating New Zealanders about the importance of the tourism industry, and promoting a tourism industry based on the sustainable use and preservation of New Zealand’s natural assets.
Eligible applicants include associations, companies, educational institutions, other organisations, and individuals with initiatives that meet one or more of the aims. Projects may range from large industry-wide initiatives managed by industry associations or Regional Tourism Organisations, which can receive up to $100,000 plus GST per project, to private enterprise projects eligible for up to $10,000 plus GST per project.
Applications must be submitted by 15 October 2025, and successful applicants will be notified on 12 December 2025. Research projects are welcome, provided they are original, align with the Trust’s aims, and are made publicly available upon completion. Sponsorship does not qualify, but specific initiatives such as bringing expert speakers to events may be supported.
Grant applications are assessed annually by the Trustees of TINZT during October and November. Conditions may be attached to successful applications, including monitoring and reporting requirements, to ensure funds are used as intended. Matched funding is not required but can be considered if proposed. Retrospective applications for already completed projects are not eligible.
