The Touring and Travel Fund – International Touring supports established NSW artists and acts in pursuing career-defining international touring opportunities through matched funding for travel and accommodation expenses.
The program focuses on supporting international touring opportunities, travel and accommodation costs, artist and act development, export outcomes, international audience growth, promotion of NSW music, support for touring personnel, and expansion of global music market engagement.
This funding program provides up to $30,000 in matched funding to assist established artists and acts undertaking significant international tours. Funding is intended to help participants capitalize on opportunities that can advance their careers and strengthen their presence in international music markets. Priority is given to costs directly supporting artists and acts, although eligible expenses associated with support roles may also be considered.
The initiative aims to strengthen the international profile of New South Wales music by enabling artists and acts to connect with global audiences. Through international touring activities, participants can expand their reach, build industry relationships, and create new opportunities for long-term career growth.
Eligible applicants include established artists and acts, as well as music businesses applying on behalf of an artist or act. An established artist or act must be able to demonstrate a strong fan base in Australia and internationally, possess a substantial history of national and/or international touring, and work with a dedicated team focused on achieving export outcomes as part of the artist’s or act’s career development strategy.
Funding recipients must be at least 18 years of age, have resided in New South Wales for a minimum of 12 months, and be actively performing or working in contemporary music. Additionally, at least 50 percent of the touring party must currently live in New South Wales and meet the same residency requirement.
Applicants must hold an active Australian Business Number (ABN) and maintain a bank account registered under the same name as the ABN, or work through a funds administrator. Applicants are also required to match the requested funding amount with their own cash contribution.
For the purposes of this program, contemporary music refers to artists and acts performing new and original music. Experimental music and sound art, contemporary classical music, opera, choral and ensemble performance, music theatre, and activities involving community music groups are not eligible for support under this funding opportunity.
