The Sustainable Protein Grant Call has been launched to support high-potential growth-stage startups advancing innovation in sustainable protein through technology development and commercialisation.
The focus areas of this opportunity are to support high-potential growth-stage startups driving innovation in sustainable protein; scale and commercialise their innovations; accelerate real-world impact in sustainable protein production and food security; competitive evaluation process which includes pitching to a panel of industry experts, investors, and government representatives; S$500,000 from the Bezos Earth Fund; S$500,000 from Enterprise Singapore; business entities in Sustainable Protein and at TRL 7–9; develops or possess innovation; has been registered within the past 10 years in their country of registration; company’s group annual sales turnover is not more than S$100 million or group employment size is not more than 200 workers; is not a subsidiary of a corporate entity.
The program is jointly introduced by the Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein at NUS and Enterprise Singapore, providing an opportunity for innovative startups to accelerate their technological advancements. Three startups will be selected to receive significant financial support aimed at enabling them to progress from late-stage development to impactful commercialisation in sustainable protein solutions.
Selected participants will undergo a competitive evaluation process consisting of pitching sessions before a panel of experts, investors and government representatives. This approach ensures that only the most impactful and scalable innovations are considered for support. Winners will each receive up to S$1 million in grant funding, enabling them to advance their technologies and contribute to global food security.
The grant call specifically targets technology-based startups working within the sustainable protein sector operating at technology readiness levels 7 to 9. Eligible companies must demonstrate a strong innovation component, operate as relatively young enterprises, and meet financial and organisational size criteria to ensure the funding supports genuinely emerging and independent ventures.
