Support for Process Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence Solutions (Latvia)

The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) continues to provide support to Latvian entrepreneurs to promote the digitalization of processes used in commercial activities, as well as begins to provide new support – for the development and implementation of artificial intelligence solutions .

With the support of available grants, entrepreneurs can digitalize various processes used in business (administrative, personnel, resource, ICT and others) and implement various artificial intelligence solutions. The implemented digitalization projects will help promote the competitiveness of Latvian entrepreneurs and increase productivity.

Funding Information

  • Total available funding: EUR 18,550,000
  • Financing:
    • for the acquisition, development and implementation of new digital solutions: up to 10,000 EUR
    • for the development and implementation of artificial intelligence solutions: up to 200,000 EUR
    • for the assessment of digital maturity: up to 10,000 EUR

Eligible Costs

  • acquisition, development and implementation of new digital solutions:
    • costs of ready-made solutions, hardware, sensors, equipment, software and information technology infrastructure, installation, customization, as well as costs of consultations related to them;
    • costs of developing new solutions;
    • license purchase or subscription and certification costs.
  • development and implementation of artificial intelligence solutions:
    • costs of ready-made solutions, hardware, sensors, equipment, software and information technology infrastructure, installation, customization, as well as costs of consultations related to them;
    • License purchase or subscription and certification costs;
    • costs of artificial intelligence ready solutions, hardware, sensors, equipment, software and information technology infrastructure, installation, customization, as well as costs of consultations related to them;
    • Costs of purchasing or subscribing to and certifying an AI solution license;
    • Costs of implementing artificial intelligence solutions and robotization;
    • Costs of data acquisition, collection and processing for the artificial intelligence solution;
    • Costs of maintaining the infrastructure of the artificial intelligence solution;
    • Costs of developing and implementing artificial intelligence solutions or tools that promote the development of production and services;
    • Costs of artificial intelligence solutions for strengthening cybersecurity, process automation, process efficiency, new product development, improving and accelerating customer service, as well as related consulting costs.
  • Digital maturity assessment:
    • European Digital Innovation Hub – costs of conducting the initial and second digital maturity test, developing the digital roadmap and opinion.

Eligible Activities

  • Administrative processes: finance and accounting, administration, document management, project management, collaboration, system interoperability;
  • Personnel management processes: human resources management, timekeeping, work delegation, staff involvement, evaluation and motivation;
  • Sales processes: customer acquisition and transaction management automation, sales and transaction tracking, e-commerce, digital marketing, digital solutions for retail, customer relationship management ( CRM );
  • Resource management processes: resource management ( Enterprise resource planning – ERP , warehouse management systems), energy resource management, more efficient use;
  • Data management processes: data security, data storage, communication infrastructure;
  • Transport and logistics processes: Internet of Things, smart mobility solutions, sensing systems, traffic monitoring;
  • Production and quality control processes: production and business process management and automation, quality control systems, data synchronization, data analytics;
  • Operational management processes: business management, business analytics, big data analytics, solutions for management decision-making, data automation, synchronization;
  • Strategic management: digitalization (processes and products) and innovation development strategy;
  • Making other improvements related to information and communication technology products, technologies, security or processes.

Ineligible Activities

  • purchase of standard office equipment and computer hardware necessary for the provision of basic internal functions and a set of processes;
  • support of existing software and information systems, excluding security testing, including cybersecurity enhancements;
  • supplementing existing programs with new functionality for users, except for the implementation of artificial intelligence solutions;
  • preparation of user documentation;
  • investments already made in internal functions and processes;
  • real estate purchase;
  • adaptation of existing software, except for the implementation of security improvements and synchronization of new software to support the implementation of the program’s objectives in commercial operations;
  • activities that have already been completed at the time the contract with LIAA is concluded.

Beneficiaries 

  • Small (micro), small, medium-sized merchant, including a foreign branch of a legal entity, farm, cooperative society);
  • Small mid-cap companies;
  • Mid-cap companies;
  • Partnerships and foundations that carry out economic activities and unite at least three merchants.

Criteria for granting aid 

  • Corresponds to the status of the applicant (micro, small, medium-sized enterprise, small medium and medium-capitalization companies and associations and foundations);
  • No international or national sanctions have been imposed;
  • Does not represent the unsupported sector;
  • There are no tax debts greater than 150 EUR.
