Deadline: October 13, 2025
The Netherlands Film Fund and the Norwegian Film Institute (NFI) have partnered to stimulate the co-production of feature-length documentaries between Norway and the Netherlands.
The focus is on the substantive quality of the script, the artistic merit, uniqueness, and urgency of the project, the creative and technical expenditure in the Netherlands, the international track record of both the Dutch and other co-producers, and a realistic prospect for future collaboration between the two producers, while the impact on the national documentary sector is also important.
This grant is open to production companies established for at least two years in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a member state of the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, that are continuously producing and exploiting films and other audiovisual productions. The application must be represented by a Dutch minority co-producer, who also serves as the majority producer and must have been primarily responsible for producing at least one feature-length documentary with a theatrical release.
The maximum contribution under this scheme is €70,000, and the film production must already have received production support from the Norwegian Film Institute. Applicants must demonstrate that 50% of the financing has been confirmed from the country of establishment of the main producer, while the Dutch contribution from funds and market parties must amount to at least 10% of the total production costs. The subsidy amount must be spent entirely in the Netherlands on cast, crew, and other production needs.
Additional requirements include ensuring that the film production is released in the Netherlands through theatrical or non-theatrical distribution. Applicants must hold exclusive film adaptation and exploitation rights, preferably for the Benelux region, or at least the Dutch territory. Financing must be fully and unconditionally committed by third parties within 15 months of the award decision, and proceeds of the film production are to be shared pro rata worldwide.
Applications for this scheme are currently open and will close on October 13, 2025, at 5:00 PM CET.
