Deadline Date: March 27, 2026
The City of Hobart offers Creative Hobart grants to support activities that enhance the cultural life of the city and contribute to its identity as a creative hub.
These grants focus on bringing more cultural and creative activities into the public realm, inspiring artistic excellence and innovation, providing greater exposure to cultural activities, increasing opportunities for community involvement, employing artists and creative practitioners, and attracting cultural tourism.
The Creative Hobart Small and Medium Grants provide financial support for artist-led creative activities, projects, and events that take place within the Hobart local government area. Small grants offer between $1,000 and $5,000, while medium grants provide funding ranging from $5,000 to $15,000. The grants aim to strengthen community wellbeing, create a rich sense of place, and contribute to the economic viability of Hobart through cultural development and the creative industries.
Eligible applicants include registered charities, not-for-profit organisations, incorporated associations, unincorporated groups, individuals with an ABN (or those under 18 with an auspice), social enterprises, registered schools or training organisations, and small businesses based in Hobart that match the funding request. Applicants must not have received other City of Hobart funding for the same activity in the same financial year, must have met previous grant conditions, have no overdue debts to the City, and hold adequate public liability insurance. Ineligible applicants include current City of Hobart employees or contractors, federal, state, and local government agencies, and political parties.
Through these grants, the City of Hobart encourages creative initiatives that engage the community, showcase artistic talent, and enrich the public experience of culture. This program provides a valuable opportunity for artists, creative practitioners, and organisations to contribute meaningfully to the cultural vibrancy of Hobart while fostering economic and social benefits.
