The Creative Enterprise Business Builder is a grant initiative designed to support companies working in moving image for storytelling, spanning film, television, games, animation, and immersive industries.
The focus of the programme is to support companies’ specific goals including business planning and strategy as well as offering other specialist expertise, knowledge or contacts, with examples such as marketing strategy, monetisation of IP, and international operation.
The Business Builder grants provide up to £2,500 for eligible SMEs, which can be used to work with a consultant who will help with business growth, strengthening strategies, or developing new opportunities. These funds cannot be used to design business plans visually, create brand assets, or cover staff and management payments. Applicants must be registered limited companies in England, based outside London, with a relevant industry track record and a vision for growth.
Applications are now open, with the final round closing on Monday 26 September 2025 at 5pm. The application process requires a proposed budget and work-plan, and at the end of the process, companies are expected to demonstrate clearer strategies for future development and investment. Creative UK also provides a dedicated Business Builder Consultant Directory and encourages applicants to either select from this list or propose their preferred experts.
The programme has previously supported a wide range of screen companies, from early-stage productions securing major commissions to established studios diversifying into television and feature films. Subsistence contributions are also available to assist with accessibility and travel costs, subject to Creative UK’s discretion.
