Deadline: September 30, 2025
The Startup Refugees Business Grant 2025 offers financial support to refugee and migrant entrepreneurs in Finland to help start or grow their businesses.
The focus areas for this grant include supporting newcomer entrepreneurs who have been in Finland for less than ten years, widening access to entrepreneurial opportunities, fostering diverse business ideas and voices, and promoting inclusive society through entrepreneurship.
In honour of its 10th anniversary, Startup Refugees has launched the 4th round of its Business Grant, which is the largest fund so far. This year, 3–5 newcomer entrepreneurs will receive grants ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 euros to help establish or expand their businesses. Unlike previous years, where eligibility was limited to those who had completed the Startup Refugees entrepreneurship course, the 2025 grant is open to all eligible refugee and migrant entrepreneurs, reflecting a commitment to broaden the reach and impact of support.
The Startup Refugees Business Grant is made possible thanks to the generous backing of Tietoevry and Relex Foundation, as well as the guidance of Startup Refugees’ board members. Their combined support reflects a shared belief in the transformative power of entrepreneurship to create opportunities and strengthen inclusive communities.
Recipients of the grant are selected by an external jury consisting of Startup Refugees network members, experienced newcomer entrepreneurs, and individuals with insight into supporting migrant-led businesses. The fund specifically targets founders and teams who have promising business ideas or existing businesses that have yet to attract investors, addressing the funding gap often faced by underrepresented founders in Finland.
Over the years, Startup Refugees has helped more than a thousand newcomers participate in its Business Program, leading to the establishment of over 120 companies. The grant serves as a vital step in helping these entrepreneurs overcome the initial challenges of launching a business in a new country and unlock their full economic and social potential.
