Deadline Date: January 14, 2026
Bharat WIN is a national initiative of the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India , aimed at driving meaningful and technology-led transformation in India’s water sector.
By merging scientific research with entrepreneurship and grassroots efforts, the programme aims to develop and scale technologies that address water-management challenges — from wastewater treatment to efficient irrigation and flood resilience.
Under Bharat WIN, participants are invited to submit proposals focusing on areas such as water-resource management, wastewater treatment, climate resilience, water-use efficiency, smart water grids, precision agriculture, flood and river-basin management, and water-quality monitoring. Through periodic calls and events such as the Jal Shakti Hackathon, Bharat WIN encourages creative, technology-driven solutions that are grounded in real-world needs.
Innovators whose submissions are selected receive initial support to develop a Proof-of-Concept (PoC), with a reward of ₹1 lakh. Promising PoCs may be further evaluated for grant-in-aid, enabling selected teams to build full-scale prototypes or deployable field-ready solutions. This structure allows individuals, start-ups, research institutions, academia, NGOs and other eligible entities to turn water-management ideas into practical interventions — bridging innovation and implementation.
The eligibility criteria for applicants are inclusive: start-ups, MSMEs, industries, incubators, R&D institutions, registered societies, universities or colleges, NGOs and other recognized organizations can apply. This broad eligibility makes the opportunity accessible to a diverse set of actors keen to contribute to India’s water security and sustainable development.
In a country where water resources are under pressure from climate change, urbanisation and growing demand, Bharat WIN offers a timely platform for meaningful change. By providing financial backing, institutional support, and a space for innovation, it empowers new solutions that could improve irrigation efficiency, water treatment, flood resilience, groundwater management, and overall water availability. For innovators and organisations ready to tackle water-related challenges, this initiative opens the door to making a tangible difference — and helping shape a more sustainable future for India’s water resources.
