Deadline Date: May 15, 2026
The Spaceport Establishment Support Grant Program invites applications to support the development of space launch facilities in Western Australia.
The program focuses on establishing spaceport infrastructure, including site assessments such as environmental impact, heritage, bushfire risk, hydrology, and launch and re-entry trajectory analysis, as well as business case development covering market analysis, technical and financial feasibility, infrastructure requirements, and risk assessments.
This initiative provides funding ranging from $200,000 to $1.75 million to support businesses operating in the space industry. A spaceport is defined as a site equipped for launching, receiving, testing, or maintaining spacecraft and rockets, and the program aims to accelerate the establishment of such facilities in Western Australia.
Eligible applicants must be legally established businesses with or eligible for an Australian Business Number, have been registered for at least three years, and be actively operating in the space industry. Applicants must also demonstrate financial stability and commit to establishing a spaceport in Western Australia, with site works expected to begin before 31 December 2029. Additionally, businesses are required to contribute at least 50% of the total project funding costs.
Through this program, the government aims to strengthen the space industry by supporting early-stage planning and development activities that are critical to establishing operational spaceports and advancing Australia’s capabilities in space infrastructure.
