Deadline Date: December 15, 2025
The Northern Territory Government through Screen Territory offers Project Development Grants to support significant stages of development work appropriate to the progress of a project.
The objective of this program is to make a contribution towards a significant development of work appropriate to the stage of the project. Up to $10 000 per application for First Stage Project Development. Up to $20 000 per application for Late Stage Project Development. A project may be funded more than once, as long as the previous grant has been successfully acquitted and significant development has taken place, up to a total cap of $30 000 over the life of an individual project unless exceptional circumstances can be demonstrated. Where projects progress to receive Production Finance Funding by way of a recoupable equity investment, any development funds will be considered as part of the total equity amount. Feature films. Adult and children’s drama and narrative comedy including television series, miniseries, telemovies and web series. Content-rich factual and documentary theatrical, television or web programs.
This program enables Territory screen practitioners to advance their creative projects through structured development stages and supports work that demonstrates strong potential to move towards production. Funding levels are aligned to the depth of development required, providing flexibility to assist both initial and late-stage progress.
Applicants can seek support across multiple phases if they continue to deliver meaningful development outcomes and maintain accountability through the reporting and acquittal process. Contributions can strengthen writing, story refinement, script drafting, audience research, packaging and materials that enhance the commercial and creative viability of a project.
The initiative ensures that Northern Territory creators receive targeted support to build well-developed content that can compete in national and international markets, while maintaining pathways towards production-level investment.
