The National Research, Development and Innovation (NRDI) Fund has launched a call to support Hungarian participation in the EUREKA programme, which promotes international research and development cooperation between businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises.
The aim of this call for proposals, financed from the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund, is to support Hungarian participation in the EUREKA programme, which promotes international R&D cooperation between businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, and through this programme: to boost the competitiveness of Hungarian businesses; to enhance Hungarian participation at the international level; to stimulate R&D cooperation between researchers and businesses by supporting innovative near-market projects resulting in the development of a prototype, new product, technology or service; and to promote the domestic utilisation of participation in international R&D projects.
The call invites enterprises and research institutions to strengthen Hungary’s role in the global innovation ecosystem by developing international R&D partnerships. Eligible applicants include businesses and non-profit companies with at least one completed business year, higher education institutions accredited by the state, and budgetary entities qualifying as research and knowledge-dissemination organisations. Hungarian partners participating in the same EUREKA project must apply as a consortium to receive national funding. Only partners or consortium leaders of EUREKA project proposals or approved projects entered into the EUREKA Secretariat’s database or clusters register, and approved by the Hungarian EUREKA National Project Coordinator, are eligible.
Activities eligible for independent funding are applied (industrial) research and experimental development, while activities related to publicity, coordination, marketing, IP protection, travel, or equipment purchase are not eligible independently. The total budget of the call is HUF 450 million, with HUF 20 to 70 million available per project for a maximum duration of 36 months. Proposals are evaluated by the NRDI Office through its electronic system in several batches during the funding period.
Requests for a professional opinion can be submitted through the designated NRDI platform in line with the assessment criteria provided in the call. This initiative reflects Hungary’s commitment to fostering industrial research, innovation, and international collaboration under the EUREKA framework.
