Deadline Date: April 23, 2026
This funding opportunity, provided by the European Commission through the European Voluntary Humanitarian Aid Corps, supports young people in contributing to humanitarian aid operations through volunteering activities that improve living conditions for people in need.
The focus areas of the opportunity are, where relevant, facilitating the transition from the humanitarian response to long-term sustainable and inclusive development, contributing to strengthening the capacity and resilience of vulnerable or disaster-affected communities, reinforcing disaster preparedness and disaster risk reduction, linking relief, rehabilitation and development, ensuring a high level of safety and security for volunteers, including complementary activities to increase the quality and impact of the action on local communities, and facilitating the active involvement of local staff and volunteers from the countries and communities in which projects are implemented.
Volunteering takes place in third countries where there are ongoing humanitarian aid operations. The opportunity is open to young people aged 18 to 35 years who are legally residing in an EU Member State or in a third country associated with the programme and who have registered in the European Solidarity Corps Portal to express their interest in engaging in Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. Volunteering is a full-time activity, between 30 and 38 hours per week, and is non-remunerated. Projects must be aligned with the humanitarian aid principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence, as well as with the ‘do no harm’ principle.
Projects can last 12, 24 or 36 months, with extensions possible if duly justified and through an amendment. The maximum EU grant per project is EUR 650,000. Participants applying for individual volunteering must not have previously taken part in the European Solidarity Corps’ Humanitarian Aid individual volunteering and must have successfully completed the mandatory trainings organised by the Commission.
The programme provides young volunteers with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in humanitarian aid, develop valuable skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and support communities in need while adhering to international humanitarian principles. It fosters active involvement and capacity-building among both local and international participants.
