Deadline Date: March 29, 2026
Global Affairs Canada (GAC), through the Embassy of Canada in Berlin, in collaboration with the National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), invites you to apply to participate in the Canadian Semiconductor R&D Partnering Delegation to Germany, delivered under the Canadian International Innovation Program (CIIP).
The delegation focuses on jointly developing new products and services by combining Canadian and German technologies, validating the potential of Canadian technology in the German market, adapting Canadian technology to local market needs, and advancing semiconductor technologies including chip design and intellectual property such as electronic design automation, IP cores and chiplets, compound semiconductors and power electronics, advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration, photonics and optoelectronics, semiconductor materials and specialty chemicals, fabrication equipment and automation, and chips for artificial intelligence.
The initiative aims to support Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises in building partnerships with German SMEs, research institutes, clusters, and large enterprises. It is designed to facilitate co-innovation projects and commercial collaborations while enabling participants to gain deeper insights into Germany’s semiconductor landscape and refine their market-entry strategies.
Eligible companies must be profit-oriented SMEs with 500 or fewer employees, incorporated in Canada, and experienced in or working toward international technology commercialization. Participants should demonstrate an interest in adapting, validating, or co-developing technologies with German partners, along with a commitment to expanding into the German market and the capacity to undertake multi-year R&D collaborations.
The delegation program includes market briefings, research security guidance, and pitch coaching, as well as participation in Silicon Saxony Days through keynotes and panels. Companies will have opportunities to present their solutions, engage in business-to-business matchmaking, attend networking events, and visit leading semiconductor fabrication and research facilities. Additional activities include targeted meetings with companies in advanced packaging, automation, and photonics, along with dedicated pitch sessions involving industry partners.
This delegation offers Canadian SMEs a platform to strengthen international collaboration, access new markets, and contribute to innovation in the semiconductor sector through strategic partnerships in Germany.
