Deadline Date: February 27, 2026
The grant programme by FACET (Franco-Australian Indo-Pacific Centre for Energy Transition) invites expressions of interest for collaborative energy-transition projects involving French and Australian partners, fostering innovation with measurable impact.
The focus areas of the opportunity are decarbonisation of transport and heavy industry including Biofuels / e-fuels or Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), decarbonisation of electricity systems including grid systems, critical minerals for the energy transition, and other projects aligned with FACET’s mission to accelerate the energy transition.
This grant round supports high-impact, deployable projects that bring practical solutions to the energy transition challenge. Eligible projects must be collaborative — including at least one French and one Australian partner — and may also include Indo-Pacific partners. Applicants are encouraged to propose industry-relevant solutions such as new demonstrators or industrial research that strengthen strategic capabilities for both countries.
Funding support from FACET typically ranges between AUD 100,000 and AUD 500,000, with a co-investment requirement: at least 50% of the project budget must be co-funded, with a minimum of 25% of total budget provided in cash. Projects are expected to deliver within roughly one year or less, ensuring timely and impactful outcomes.
This grant opportunity offers a significant chance for academic, industrial or startup collaborators from France, Australia and optionally the broader Indo-Pacific region to contribute to decarbonisation, clean energy innovation, and cross-national collaboration — enabling projects that can scale, deliver societal and environmental benefits, and support the transition to a sustainable energy future.
