The Tech4People funding program supports research and development projects that lead to new or significantly improved products, services, or processes in the fields of health, education, mobility, work, housing, safety, data protection or climate action, with a strong emphasis on technical strength as well as social and ethical responsibility.
This funding is designed to support businesses and partners developing innovative technologies that improve quality of life by covering key project-related costs. Eligible applicants include existing small and medium-sized enterprises, large companies, and start-ups. Project partners may also include universities, universities of applied sciences, associations, non-university research institutions, and organizations from the education and social sectors. All business sectors are eligible to apply.
Funding amounts to a maximum of 600,000 euros per project, with a funding rate ranging from 25 to 80 percent, depending on the proposal. The minimum project size required to apply is 50,000 euros, with a maximum project duration of five years. Funding covers personnel costs, consultation and development services, tangible and intangible investments such as licenses or machines, consumables, and structural modifications. In addition, up to 50 percent of the total approved funding amount can be paid in advance, provided that biannual progress reports are submitted.
Applicants must provide a completed online application, confirmation of application, a de minimis declaration, as well as their most recent annual financial statement or income statement. Applications will be independently reviewed and recommended by a jury. Additional bonuses apply, including a women’s bonus of 10,000 euros if the project is led by a qualified woman, and a start-up bonus of 5,000 euros if a new company is created within the funded project.
