Deadline Date: January 23, 2026
The NSW Government is now accepting applications for its Recreational Fishing Grants to support projects that enhance recreational fishing opportunities across the state.
Administered by Fisheries and Forestry, the program focuses on initiatives that improve fishing infrastructure and access, as well as promote recreational fishing education. These grants aim to deliver tangible benefits to the fishing community, encouraging participation and improving facilities for all anglers.
Funding is available through two grant platforms. Projects that enhance fishing infrastructure or improve access to fishing locations can receive up to $50,000, while initiatives focused on recreational fishing education may receive up to $10,000. This financial support allows eligible organisations to implement projects that strengthen the recreational fishing experience and provide educational resources for the community.
Eligible applicants include a range of legal entities, such as Australian-incorporated companies, incorporated associations or co-operatives, partnerships, sole traders, local councils or joint council organisations, educational institutions, and government agencies. Applicants must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or, where applicable, obtain approval to submit a Statement by Supplier form. Projects must be related to fishing access, facilities, or fishing education, and applicants are required to hold or commit to obtaining public liability insurance of at least $10 million per occurrence or equivalent self-insurance.
Certain applicants are ineligible, including unincorporated organisations and individuals. By providing targeted funding, the Recreational Fishing Grants Program seeks to enhance the accessibility, enjoyment, and knowledge of recreational fishing in New South Wales, ensuring that both beginners and experienced anglers can benefit from improved facilities and educational opportunities.
