The Netherlands Film Fund offers a cash rebate on Dutch production costs for feature films, feature-length documentaries, and animated films primarily intended for cinema.
The Netherlands Film Production Incentive aims to increase the attractiveness of the Dutch film sector for both majority and minority film productions. The Fund aims to boost the production activity of creative and technical film professionals and film companies in the Netherlands.
In addition, the Fund aims to use the Incentive to promote the development of film talent in the Netherlands and stimulate the diversity, quality and distribution of film productions.
Funding Information
- The following subsidy contributions can be requested for the Netherlands Film Production Incentive for film productions:
- Maximum €3 million per year per applying production company.
- The subsidy contribution is a maximum of 35% (cash rebate) of demonstrably spent and qualifying Dutch production costs.
Who is the scheme for?
- The Film Production Incentive is for Dutch producers of feature films, feature-length documentaries, and animated films , specifically those who want to collaborate with international producers on a project basis to exchange creativity and business. The program also encourages the development of talent, diversity, quality, and broad visibility in multiple countries.
Who can apply?
- Applications for the Film Production Incentive can be submitted by an independent production company (a legal entity, not a sole proprietorship or general partnership) that has been established for at least two years in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a member state of the EU or EEA, or Switzerland, and continuously produces and exploits films and other audiovisual productions.
- The production company is represented by a producer who, in the seven calendar years preceding the application, has been primarily responsible for the realization of at least one majority film production (reference film) with a production budget of at least €500,000 and a theatrical release in the Netherlands.
