Deadline: September 30, 2025
The Innovation Ecosystem Grant aims to build energy innovation ecosystems in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
The focus areas include facilitating collaboration and investment opportunities in developing energy innovation sub-sectors and clusters, supporting technological or product-based innovation to scale up within Australia and internationally.
The grant supports two main categories: Innovation Clusters and Business Accelerator funding. Innovation Clusters focus on capacity-building activities in the energy innovation sectors, such as networking events, accessing investors and capital, knowledge workshops, professional conferences, roundtables, and showcasing Canberra in international roadshows. Business Accelerator funding assists ACT-based technological or product innovations to commercialize and gain market access beyond prototypes, aiming at successful products and services.
Funding of up to AUD 3.25 million is available over five years, with individual grants ranging from AUD 30,000 to AUD 300,000 (excluding GST). Eligibility for Innovation Clusters includes businesses and industry-building not-for-profits, while Business Accelerator funding is restricted to ACT-based businesses only.
Applicants must comply with general eligibility requirements outlined in the guidelines, including being ACT-based or having the majority of funded activities occur in the ACT. The grant supports the ACT government’s vision of driving a sustainable, export-oriented energy transition industry, contributing to job creation, innovation ecosystems, and economic diversification.
