The Innovation Booster Grant program is requesting applications to support startups and innovative SMEs in Western Australia by providing access to resources, support services, and expertise to help progress their innovations toward validation and commercialisation.
The program focuses on enabling businesses to overcome barriers related to lack of capital and expertise, providing access to support services to address technical problems, developing new-to-market products that are commercially ready, increasing the number of commercially ready innovations in Western Australia, and positioning the region as a preferred location for product testing and development.
The grant offers a maximum of $50,000 per application for projects to be completed within 12 months. Eligible expenditures include costs directly associated with project delivery and may cover external support services in four main categories: research and development, product development, technology transfer and intellectual property, and commercialisation support services. Research and development services may include compliance testing, product testing and validation, laboratory verification, and certification. Product development expenses may include engineering design work and building a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Technology transfer and intellectual property support covers protection of intellectual property, legal advice, and licensing. Commercialisation support services include innovation management and consulting, commercialisation strategies, feasibility studies, and financial support such as tax incentive advice and capital raising strategies.
Grant funding can only be spent after execution of a Funding Agreement Arrangement and must directly relate to the delivery of the proposed project. The program is designed to enhance the capability of startups and SMEs to bring innovations to market efficiently and successfully.
