The Ministry of Culture has launched a call for expressions of interest for grants and sponsorships to support books, letters, and reading activities.
The support and development of contemporary artistic creation and production, the emergence of new and original/innovative ideas of artistic expression and cultural action, supporting the work of young artists and fostering new artistic movements, the development of the public and the diffusion of cultural goods among citizens, the strengthening of cross-sectoral/cross-artistic actions in Contemporary Culture and the encouragement of creative synergies in Greece and internationally, strengthening the cultural and creative economy as a pillar of social and economic development and the creation of new jobs.
The development of actions in the Region with the aim of supporting and utilizing the human resources of each region and contributing to the economic revitalization of local communities, the promotion of equality in access, participation and familiarity with contemporary cultural events, with emphasis on young people, vulnerable and vulnerable social groups, as well as special audiences, strengthening social cohesion and contributing to the acceptance of diversity, strengthening knowledge for an even more sustainable environment, through socially responsible actions, promoting digital transformation and digital innovation in the field of culture, strengthening the prestige and reputation of Greek contemporary artistic creation abroad and the emergence of Greece as a strong and recognizable pole of development of Contemporary Culture.
This program recognises the pivotal role of books in shaping personal growth, enabling readers to explore emotions, meanings and life philosophies through the experience of reading. The call encourages actions that use books and literature as a vehicle to expand intellectual and emotional development while nurturing cultural participation.
Eligible proposals within this call include activities for the promotion and dissemination of Greek letters and books, support for scientific meetings such as symposia, workshops, conferences and seminars, and support for reading initiatives. Proposals may also aim to develop readership among specific population groups including the print-disabled, elderly, refugees, immigrants, young people and children. Literary competitions for different age groups and audiences, as well as actions and scientific meetings related to literary tourism, may also be funded.
The call supports the creation of digital tools in the book sector, development of applications and databases, and digitization of literary archives and books to ensure accessibility to the wider public. These initiatives aim to foster access, participation and creative engagement for all readers.
