Deadline: 7 May 2026
The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation invites proposals to support reforestation, sustainable forest management, and community-based non-timber enterprises in Eastern Uganda and Napak District, Karamoja.
The project focuses on promoting reforestation, agroforestry, and nature-based enterprises to contribute to the sustainable management of forests and inclusive economic growth. Its objectives include increasing tree cover through restoration and improved forest management, promoting agroforestry and regeneration of indigenous tree species to reduce pressure on forest reserves while providing livelihood benefits, improving the livelihoods of local communities by developing sustainable non-timber value chain enterprises linked to forest conservation, and enhancing the capacity of institutions and stakeholders to sustainably manage forests and access forest finance.
The program offers a total indicative funding of EUR 4,000,000, with grants ranging between EUR 3,000,000 and EUR 4,000,000, for projects with a maximum duration of 28 months. Eligible applicants include legal entities that are profit- or non-profit-making, such as non-governmental organizations, private companies, public sector operators, local authorities, or international inter-governmental organizations registered and operating in Uganda, and established in a Member State of the European Union or another eligible country or territory as defined under NDICI-GE5.
This opportunity aims to combine environmental restoration with socio-economic development, creating sustainable forest-based livelihoods, enhancing biodiversity, and strengthening local and institutional capacity to address climate change and support inclusive economic growth in Uganda.
