Deadline Date: June 16, 2026
The European Commission is seeking grant applications to strengthen the collaboration of pan-European research infrastructures with international partners to enhance global research capacity and impact.
Focus areas, include fostering new or enhanced effective cooperation with key international partners, strengthening the position of European research infrastructures in the global landscape, increasing opportunities for the development and geographical expansion of global research infrastructures, enhancing capacity to address societal challenges with a global dimension such as environmental monitoring and health, and reinforcing the global competitiveness and performance of the European Research Area.
The indicative total budget for the initiative is €8,000,000.00, with individual project funding ranging from €1,000,000.00 to €1,500,000.00.
The scope of the initiative involves supporting cooperation between European research infrastructures and their non-European counterparts, and promoting international engagement of ESFRI and ERIC research infrastructures through participation in global research infrastructure initiatives. Proposals must describe shared objectives and governance of collaborations, taking into account long-term sustainability, methods, and governance models. Activities leading to agreements on data sharing or co-financing reciprocal activities are encouraged, and opportunities for European scientists to access shared data must be clearly outlined.
The programme emphasizes fostering global interoperability and coverage of data, exchanging best practices among user communities and managers regarding harmonization of tests, standards, reference materials, interoperability, and data handling. While the main focus is on individual pan-European infrastructures and their international counterparts, proposals involving multiple infrastructures are welcomed if relevant to the chosen research field.
Eligible participants include any legal entity, regardless of place of establishment, including those from non-associated third countries or international organizations, provided all conditions of the Horizon Europe Regulation and the specific call are met.
