Deadline: October 15, 2025
The Office for Fine Arts offers project funding for German institutions and galleries to exhibit and disseminate the work of French or French-based visual artists.
Focus areas, objectives, priorities, and themes include supporting German institutions that exhibit and disseminate the work of French or French-based visual artists, supporting German galleries for their first exhibition of French or French-based artists, giving priority to monographic exhibition projects by emerging artists organized by institutions recognized nationally or internationally in the art world, supporting only active artists (since deceased artists are not eligible), and encouraging exhibitions of works by contemporary visual artists.
Since 2022, the Office for Fine Arts has also been supporting German galleries in their first and second exhibitions with French artists or artists living in France. The Bureau aims to strengthen partnerships with commercial structures that are actively networking artists in the local art market. Eligible galleries must have a legal form such as a company or business (freelancers are not eligible), be based in Germany, have full-time management, trade in works by contemporary visual artists, and regularly organize exhibition projects in their premises and/or at trade fairs.
Grants awarded range between €1,000 and €2,000, with a maximum of 50% of the total project budget. Production and reception costs cannot be covered by the Bureau. Exhibitions by artists already represented in the gallery’s regular program are not eligible, and monographic exhibitions by emerging artists are given preference.
