The Netherlands Film Production Incentive supports film productions that strengthen the Dutch film sector and enhance collaboration with international partners.
The focus areas of this opportunity are: increase the attractiveness of the Dutch film sector for both majority and minority film productions, boost the production activity of creative and technical film professionals and film companies in the Netherlands, promote the development of film talent in the Netherlands, stimulate the diversity, quality and distribution of film productions, financial benefit of up to 35% (cash rebate) on qualifying production costs of (international) film productions demonstrably spent in the Netherlands, eligible projects that can be of value to the Dutch film sector and that stimulate collaboration with Dutch companies, maximum €3 million per year per applying production company.
This incentive aims to support feature films, feature-length documentaries and animated films produced by Dutch companies seeking to work with international producers. It strengthens the Dutch creative environment by encouraging shared creativity and business practices across borders while increasing production activity within the Netherlands. The scheme is designed to promote talent development, enhance diversity and improve visibility of film productions across multiple countries.
The program provides a financial benefit of up to 35% in the form of a cash rebate for production costs spent within the Netherlands. Eligible productions are expected to deliver value to the Dutch film sector and support cooperation with Dutch companies. Applicants may request a maximum subsidy contribution of €3 million per year.
Applications must be submitted by an independent production company that is a legal entity and has been established for at least two years in the Netherlands, an EU or EEA member state, Switzerland, or the Caribbean Netherlands. These companies must be actively engaged in producing and exploiting films and other audiovisual works.
The producer representing the company must have been primarily responsible for the realization of at least one majority film production within the past seven years. The reference film must have had a production budget of at least €500,000 and a theatrical release in the Netherlands, demonstrating experience and capacity to manage substantial film projects.
