Deadline: October 09, 2025
The Innovation Connect (ICON) Grant offers eligible early-stage innovative entrepreneurs and startups matched-funded grants between $10,000 – $30,000 to kick-start their growth journey.
The focus is on supporting innovative, entrepreneurial ideas to a market ready position including market testing, funding projects that prove the technical or commercial feasibility of a concept, supporting the development of product prototype or functional software, and assisting with development and testing of effective marketing approaches, and with legal, IP and patenting advice.
The Canberra Innovation Network administers the ICON Grant on behalf of the ACT Government, facilitating financial support that empowers entrepreneurs to develop and scale their innovative ideas. To be eligible, applicants must have an annual turnover of less than $2 million, be Canberra based, hold a current ABN, and agree to enter into a Funding Agreement with the Canberra Innovation Network.
The application process begins with an expression of interest, including a 60-second video pitch. Submissions are reviewed by an independent panel of business experts, who shortlist candidates for a full application and a three-minute face-to-face pitch. Successful applicants are required to enter into a Funding Agreement, with grant payments made in stages linked to milestone achievements. All expenditure must be evidenced with receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation.
Expressions of interest for the next round close at 5pm on 9 October 2025. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to pitch on 20 November 2025, with final recipients selected thereafter. Two funding rounds are held each year, ensuring continuous opportunities for startups to secure support for their innovative projects.
The program not only provides funding but also connects entrepreneurs to a thriving innovation community, additional training opportunities, and business growth pathways within Canberra’s dynamic startup ecosystem.
