Deadline Date: January 23, 2026
The NRM North is seeking applications for its Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Grants to decrease the amount of waste sent to landfill through innovative activities, and increase the recirculation of resources.
A total of $45,000 is available to support eligible project costs, with a maximum grant of $10,000 per application. In cases where the program is undersubscribed, larger projects may be considered for higher funding. All successful projects must be completed within 12 months of signing the funding agreement.
Funding can be used for a range of initiatives, including circular economy projects, waste reduction programs, investment in recycling infrastructure, and educational initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable practices within the community.
A wide variety of organisations are eligible to apply. Not-for-profit community organisations and schools, including charities and deductible gift recipients, can access funding. Other eligible applicants include sole traders, small, medium and large businesses, local governments, local government organisations, and state government organisations such as hospitals and tertiary education institutions.
Eligible organisations must be based and operate within northern Tasmania, covering the council areas of Break O’Day, George Town, Launceston, Meander Valley, Northern Midlands, Dorset, West Tamar, and Flinders Island. Applicants must also demonstrate a commitment to minimising waste to landfill by implementing circular economy initiatives or community-focused activities.
This grants program provides vital support for local organisations to develop practical, sustainable solutions that reduce waste, enhance recycling infrastructure, and engage communities in circular economy practices.
